EASyR Lesson
Revision Reflections
I added a Synthesis and a Reflective portion to the prompt in Option 1. I added a Reflective portion to the prompt in Option 2. I added an Evaluation and a Reflective portion to the prompt in Option 3. The Reflective additions would extend the assignment another week, allowing students to reflect on the feedback they received from peers and to explain their reasons for making what revisions they made before submitting the final version for grading.
Synopsis
The original assignment was a timed compare and contrast essay for ESOL students in a F2F setting. Students chose from three different topic options to write about. The original purpose involved students helping their readers understand the similarities and differences within the chosen topic. To adopt this into an online environment, I would remove the timed aspect. Assign the essay at the start of that week’s module with a draft due by the end of the week. Peer reviews via the discussion list would occur the following week. Revisions would follow with a final draft due at the end of that week.
Objectives
The objectives for the lesson involve a demonstration by the students that they are able to discuss clearly the consequences or importance of the similarities or differences in the chosen topic.

Rationale
The changes involve a deepening of the objectives by incorporating evaluation, analysis, and synthesis elements in each of the option prompts from which the students have to choose.
