On the Road: Module Seven

What are 3 insights you had about creating your final project (assessment toolbox)?

  1. The fourth learning objective that I incorporated included a blog activity that I believe I will add as a weekly activity to my research writing class. A project blog where students discuss the whole process of their research projects from beginning with topic search and analysis to the final project.

  2. Creating two additional websites along with the additions to the ongoing e-portfolio seems excessive for an 8-week course. The final project fed a little bit into the e-portfolio and the midterm project was a group activity, which took some of the burden off, but the final project is the equivalent of creating an entirely new e-portfolio. I guess I would rather have had more focused and deeper weekly assignments than the final project in its current form. I could spend the entire 8-weeks on this project and still not feel I had the time to get it just right.

  3. I am glad that I had created as much of the final project before I left for vacation. I learned that where I can write up my blog and respond to discussion posts easily using the wifi at KOA campgrounds across the country, doing more complicated online activities that require greater bandwidth is not recommended.

Revisit your SAMR self-analysis and describe 2 insights about how close you came to the goal you set for yourself at the beginning of the course.

  1. I found that the single-point rubric model that I discovered in module six directly related to creating assessments that monitor leaning more.

  2. The entire sequence of learning objectives for the assignments moved them away from emphasizing right answers and toward the learner-centered paradigm.

What is 1 question you still have?

What are some other ways a wiki (for example, we used the wiki (for an exercise early in the course, but have not utilized the tool since) could be used as an assessment tool in an online course? As a student in this course, we were assessed on how well we utilized the web tool in the assignments and not how to use the tool for assessing student learning in the future.
