Assessment
The four modules included in the Alignment Chart provide a variety of assessment options. All of the assessments are formative, meaning that each assesses the particulars of a specific assignment. There are times that discussion post will be used to assess how well students are absorbing the content. Peer Review sessions will assess how well students understand and execute specific objectives of writing assignments. Similar to discussion, students will review their synchronous visit to the online library and address any additional questions they might have as well as compare results of the scavenger hunt to ensure that everyone found all the items. These assessment options are in addition to the more traditional writing assignments students receive weekly and a knowledge check quiz involving MLA formatting.
Below you will find the rubric for the Research Analysis assignment. This is the first writing assignment and is designed to help them make the most informed choice on topics to research for the course. The activities that inform this assessment include the creation of a visual representation of the process (i.e. Mind Map),  a set of criteria that students weigh in accordance to their own judgement, and an explanation as to why they chose the topic for their research project.
